Thanks, LV101, for your kind words.
It is scary, never allowed to let our guard down. Fire was once a seasonal thing; now, it's year-round. Last year, the narrow roads out of our gated community were jammed; many were unaware of an alternate route. Since that time, there have been awareness drills. My first thought was to run down the road to the open spaces of the golf course.
Take care of yourself, dear friend!

Thanks, Mr. Flipper, for the good thoughts and support. Wishing you and the missus well.
You're welcome, too, for the information. Likewise, clients have been having me do clearing for them. Ironic that reports on the reality of the so-called new abnormal have acknowledged that, when the wind comes roaring through, it's all but a lost cause.
Take care, friend.

I'm in the woods near Wasa, BONEZZ, 3rdgen, and Flipper. We always have had rain starting in October. This year is different. We're all trying to keep our anxiety in check while our to-go bags are packed and at the ready. This time last year we had to evacuate at 5:00 a.m.
Paradise and Magalia were childhood vacation spots for me and friends.
Blessings and peace to all.

Serious Issue ....... that MUST be Addressed !!!!!
by Simon inthis is such an important issue, more and more people are succumbing to what must be some viral outbreak wreaking havoc in the world.. i'm talking about unnecessary punctuation.. it's easy to become infected.
you want to write something and add some emphasis so you add an exclamation mark to make it "important!
" but dang, it's not important enough is it??

You're welcome, LV101!
The retired teachers and professor of English and creative writing enjoy the class I lead (led?).
One of my greatest joys is teaching language arts to a pre-teen student with learning disabilities; she has been evaluated and tests in at 130-plus IQ. An entire team of educators is working with her. When she talks, one is hearing a "professor" explain in explicit detail this or that scientific matter of great consequence, IHHO.

Thanks, Steve and LV101, for your comments.
Since this is my profession, I will chime in with a link that has drawn no little interest:
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/239701/more-on-punctuation
Note that the title reads out loud as "Moron Punctuation." ('Moron Punctuation'. [Brit.])
As already mentioned by other posters, there is an absolute distinction between American English and British English punctuation, e.g., the use of single ("inverted commas," I recall) and double quotation marks and placement of periods and commas within or without close of quotation marks. When editing, I make this distinction in punctuation, depending upon what side of the pond my client lives and writes . . .

Ending a case that electrified punctuation pedants, grammar goons and comma connoisseurs, Oakhurst Dairy settled an overtime dispute with its drivers that hinged entirely on the lack of an Oxford comma in state law.
The dairy company in Portland, Me., agreed to pay $5 million to the drivers, according to court documents filed on Thursday.
The relatively small-scale dispute gained international notoriety last year when the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit ruled that the missing comma created enough uncertainty to side with the drivers, granting those who love the Oxford comma a chance to run a victory lap across the internet.
But the resolution means there will be no ruling from the land’s highest courts on whether the Oxford comma — the often-skipped second comma in a series like “A, B, and C” — is an unnecessary nuisance or a sacred defender of clarity, as its fans and detractors endlessly debate. (In most cases, The Times stylebook discourages the serial comma, often called the Oxford comma because it was traditionally used by the Oxford University Press.)

Today I awoke from dreams of nocturnal flight,
Hoping they might take me through the day and
Lift me skyward, though now fully awake.
E'er a child at heart and full of hope, I left my perch
And begged Icarus that he should hear my plea to
Enter that realm where once he briefly sailed.
Head bowed, I spoke my heart, cast my eyes toward
The eternal sun and lifted off an earth that gave way
To a boy who dared dream what could not be . . .

Why go back to the Old Testament?
by Lost in the fog inwhy do jws insist on still quoting from the old testament to back up some of their wacky ideas?
such as on blood, beards, abortion, tattoos, etc.
surely if the mosaic law code was nailed to the torture stake all of its parts were cancelled.
